School Breakfast Program
Regulations require that all schools breakfast meet the recommendation of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
In addition, breakfasts must provide one-fourth of the Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA) for protein, calcium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin C and calories as well as no more than 30% of calories from fat and less than 10% of calories from saturated fat.
Offer versus Serve "Breakfast"
Eagle Pass ISD has implemented "Offer versus Serve" at all secondary school levels.
Students are allowed to refuse any one food item that they do not intend to eat.
Students must take full servings of at least 3 food items for a breakfast to be reimbursable.
Straight Plate "Breakfast"
Eagle Pass ISD has implemented "Straight Plate" at all Primary and Early Education school levels.
Students are provided a breakfast meal and the entire plate must be taken for a breakfast to be reimbursable.
